Shalomshalom_musiker Music Between Friends

In 2012 we initiated a unique concert at the Benedictine monastery of Altenburg, about 80 km north-west of Vienna. It was not at all a formal in interreligious conference but an emotional meeting between real friends.

Benedictine Abbot Primate Notker Wolf from Rome (flute), the Protestant Bishop of Austria Michael Buenker (drums), Chief Rabbi Chaim Eisenberg (vocals) and Gerhard Steger, a high officer of the Austrian Ministry of Finances (guitar, sax) came together to entertain an enthusiastic audience with their audition. Danielle Spera, Director of the Jewish Museum of Vienna was the moderator of this overwhelming evening, which was a significant step forward to a stable Christian-Jewish cooperation in Austria. Markus Pfandler, Church-musician of the Abbey was the conductor of the evening. He has prepared all musical arrangements specially adapted for that non-professional All-Star-Band. The Altenburg Choirboys were singing under his direction as well as Jakob Sint (piano, Jewish Liberal Community of Vienna Or Chadasch) and Marc Bruckner (bass)
